Tucson Real Estate
Tucson can lay claim to a lot of charm, being a large city with a small town attitude. With two famous United States Navy vessels named for it, and immortalized in a Beatles song, the city, known to local residents as “The Old Pueblo” seems to leave its imprint on all those who visit. For years it was Arizona’s largest city and capital, and while Phoenix has grown larger, Tucson remains a cultural and economic epicenter of the wide open Southwest.
In addition to housing the state’s oldest university, The University of Arizona, and providing the catalyst for the Southwest’s high tech boom, Tucson is known for a variety of colorful, multicultural festivals that bring in crowds from all over. The city’s Fourth Street Fairs in December and March regularly draw 200,000 to 350,000 people, and Tucson’s Day of the Dead celebration beginning November first is the largest of its kind outside Mexico.
One of the longest settled places in North America, Tucson takes its name from an O’oodham word meaning “Black Base,” for a collection of mostly volcanic mountains to the west of the city. Most notably, there is Sentinel Peak, or “A Mountain,” which sports a large letter A in honor of the University of Arizona, the city’s largest employer. To the east of the city one finds the cactus forests of Saguaro National Park, the best place in the country to view the iconic giant Saguaro cacti, which can grow to heights of 50 feet.
In Tucson real estate, you’ll find more of everything that’s great about Arizona’s booming housing market, with an unbeatable climate in a scenic mountain setting, a charming community, and a wide range of listings to suit your needs.
